Sandstone.com
Sunil and I (Kearny Jackson) are excited to invest in Sandstone’s seed round alongside Sequoia Capital, with support from SV Angel, Mantis Venture Capital, Daybreak, Webb Investment Network, and other incredible general counsels and tech operators.
Sandstone was born out of the acute frustration Nick Fleisher, Jarryd Strydom and Liam Germain, the founders, experienced. As in-house counsel, Jarryd was drowning in Slack pings, procurement tickets, and redlines. Nick was leading legal tech work at McKinsey, observing the same problems. In-house counsel lacked a “legal home” connecting every workflow to the business context that drives it.
So they built Sandstone. The first platform purpose-built to unify legal data and business context into a single beautiful source, directly in the tools in house teams already use.
Sunil and I have met many companies in legal tech over the past few years. Sandstone was the first team with the right domain background, product DNA, customer focus and tenacity we think are needed to crush this market.

I think the interesting trend is that in-house teams are not looking for point by point solutions such as contract review and legal research. They want end-to-end solutions according to their playbooks. Furthermore, they're looking for tools that can transform legal knowledge into business intelligence. For example, clauses that cause the most disputes for the company. Sandstone is trying to bridge this by building an AI-Native engine for in-house teams.
